Tubing, fishing, waterfalls, and hiking
ocated at the intersection of US Routes 19 and 441, Cherokee is easy to find. You’re going to love tubing on the Oconaluftee River – it flows through the center of town! Enjoy boating, fishing, and hiking in the spectacular scenery that surrounds you. See beautiful Mingo Falls just outside of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and visit the Museum of the Cherokee People to learn their 11,000-year history in this abundant region.
Like bears? Every one of the seven Cherokee clans created special sculptures for The Bear Project. Get the map to find all 19 bears when you visit the Cherokee Welcome Center. Play golf at Sequoyah National Golf Club in nearby Whittier and try your luck at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino. Plus, craft breweries, fun stuff for the kids, and lots of great restaurants too.
